Manzullo makes video critique of Democrats’ 1,990 page health care bill

October 30th, 2009 at 11:20pm Chuck Sweeny

Congressman Don Manzullo, R-Egan, has filmed a video of himself, commenting on the House Democrats’ 1,990 page health care reform bill. Manzullo doesn’t like what he’s reading. The bill contains a hefty tax on medical appliances, which will add to the cost of health care for everyone, he says. It also has a dis-incentive for state’s to pass malpractice reform, saying the federal government will reward states who do not have caps on jackpot settlements. This, too, will drive up the cost of health care, he says. So, instead of ignoring the need for malpractice reform, this bill actually encourages lawyers to file more lawsuits!!!

Cute little video. Love the phone ringing in the background to give it a homey, man-of-the-people touch. Funny, though, I must have missed the part where he offers up his own solutions as to what to do about all the uninsured in the U.S. and the escalating costs of health care and the multi-billion profits of insurance companies and the GOPs apparent belief that health care is a luxury that only the fortunate should be able to afford. Maybe that’s in the extended director’s cut that will be released later.

Amazing that we continue to elect this guy.

Hospitals care for anyone who needs medical care. No one goes untreated that wants medical care. And, those who have coverage already pay for that in their bills. So, health care is provided. All the uninsured still have to pay under Obama’s health plan. I will find it interesting to see that happen. My take is, it won’t. They will still show up at the hospitals as they do now and not pay the premiums even if they get assistance for them.

Why do you think government can control costs when they never have. That is a market situation. The government still pays billions for parts in everything they buy and never have been able to coral costs. The public’s thirst for the latest and greatest multimillion dollar piece of equipment that can extend their lives just a little along with huge multimillion dollar lawsuits we all have to pay for. Again, nothing is free.

The insurance company percentage of profit is among the lowest of any corporation. So, unless you are saying they should operate their business for free, then this argument over.

We elect this guy because he sees it the way we do. Government run anything is not the answer. It only add tax burden after tax burden until everything goes under. Business, the family budgets, savings. We elect this guy because he knows as we all should know. Higher taxes out of Washington never solves anything, least of all healthcare.

By the way, have you seen by how much margin Don gets elected? We need more congressmen and women like him, not less.

Healthcare is not a right, it\’s a privelage. It was not guaranteed to us in the constitution. Many of the uninsured Americans have decided for themselves not to be insured, should we take away their right to decide while we\’re at it? Also, another large portion of \"Uninsured Americans\" are the illegals they intend to give amnesty. Manzullo is on the right track. Everyone should fight this massive takeover of the private sector.

If you want “free” health care, you are free to move to Canada. That’s the great thing about this country - you are free to speak and free to leave.

    Hey Monkey Eater,

Health care has nothing to do with the Constitution but I seriously hope that if you ever get sick, you’ve got good health insurance.

Of course, I realize that many people choose not to get health insurance and that’s their right. But, the vast majority of those who don’t have it, can’t access it or, if they can, can’t afford it.

The incredible irony of this whole debate is that the GOP, the so-called religious party, is going out of its way to make sure that those who need health care, can’t get it. Love the contradiction.
