Excellent Oct. 29 column by Peggy Noonan on the inability of government to be imaginative enough to solve problems. In short, whether it’s state, local or federal, our leaders dont’ have a clue. Read it HERE:

That was pretty good but I don’t think there has been enough emphasis on what the bailout was INTENDED to do. Peggy said:
“Waves of money are sloshing through the system, creating a false rising tide that lifts all boats for the moment. The tide will recede. The boats aren’t rising, they’re bobbing, and will settle.”
The bailout was intended to do EXACTLY this and nothing more. many people and businesses were caught completely off guard by this economic meltdown as they weren’t involved in the wrong doing. The temporary lifting allows them to adjust their course and save themselves from being scuttled. The ‘boats’ that can’t correct course WILL fail and another bail out should not be offered them. This taxpayer rescue plan is hopefully a short term enigma and NOT a new mainstay of the economic plan for this country.

….”The executive said of Washington: “They don’t understand that people can just stop, get out. I have friends and colleagues who’ve said to me ‘I’m done.’ “ He spoke of his own increasing tax burden and said, “They don’t understand that if they start to tax me so that I’m paying 60%, 55%, I’ll stop.”
This is exactly the attitude I found when I went to England in 1982…that is until Maggie came along and cut the tax rate big time. Oh, yes, so did Reagan….

I am feeling this way towards our goverment and society. I guess it could always be worse. I havn’t worked since May 18th , 2009 and the job situation is still looking bad. I am going through dislocated workers to obtain another degree but without jobs thats not going to help much. I really don’t know what to think anymore and I have lost all faith in our goverment local , federal you name it.
