Scientists denounce NASA’s ‘Unproven Remarks’ on Global Warming

Newsmax.com offered a credible repudiation of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s stand on global warming, when a group of NASA scientists denounced their organization’s remarks on the issue.

Excerpt:

Fifty top scientists, astronauts, and engineers who have worked for NASA are attacking the space agency’s stance that manmade carbon dioxide is responsible for global climate change.

Seven Apollo astronauts and the deputy director of the space shuttle program are among the experts — with more than 1,000 years of combined professional experience — who have signed a letter to NASA Administrator Charles Bolden.

The letter begins: “We, the undersigned, respectfully request that NASA and the Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) refrain from including unproven remarks in public releases and websites. We believe the claims by NASA and GISS that manmade carbon dioxide is having a catastrophic impact on global climate change are not substantiated, especially when considering thousands of years of empirical data.

“With hundreds of well-known climate scientists and tens of thousands of other scientists publicly declaring their disbelief in the catastrophic forecasts, coming particularly from the GISS leadership, it is clear that the science is NOT settled.

“The unbridled advocacy of CO2 being the major cause of climate change is unbecoming of NASA’s history of making an objective assessment of all available scientific data prior to making decisions or public statements.”

The signees charge NASA with advocating an “extreme position” on climate change “prior to a thorough study of the possible overwhelming impact of natural climate drivers.”

They conclude: “At risk is damage to the exemplary reputation of NASA, NASA’s current or former scientists and employees, and even the reputation of science itself.”

That about says it all.

  1. Do you mean Al Gore lied to us? 😉

    (sarc/off)

  2. farmrdave

I have grown up believing in the science at NASA. Please don’t muck it up now.

  3. I have been saying this all along, but the Media, Liberal Academics, and many unthinking individuals in the “green” communities chose to deny all claims. Yes, Al Gore (inventer of the internet) is dead in so far as viable brain function.

Keep the truth coming! We are listening!

Try4Truth nails it. Not a single clinate scientist in the bunch. If there were one I’m sure he’d be put on a pedestal by the right and they’d take some sort of “Teach the controversy” position as their side’s arguments get deflated.

  5. are you guys kiddin, there hasnt been a worthwhile ‘climate scientist’ that has been accurate… let alone mainstream science as a whole….

its pretty dang easy to find out the truth for yourself if you look at the same data they do, you can easily come to a few conclusion (well if you get off your high-horse long enough anyways) that 1) global warming is complete bunk 2) nasa has never been great at producing their own information in a way that makes any sense logically/scientifically/religiously(if you believe in God) and are only really good at getting data and information and releasing that for others to study 3) mainstreams views on the same data that nasa tries to deliniate come up with the same answers, answers that even a psychopathic mind cant understand, and in a few small cases actually guessing what it is without any real information or context behind it. 4) most importantly DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH ON THIS, THE DATA IS AVAILABLE TO ANYONE/EVERYONE…

i have study the data, the global warming stuff is indeed a lie… first of all they dont take into account that the solar system as a WHOLE has a impact on the planets climate changes, they dont take into account the earths polar magnetism’s effect on climate and weather, they dont even take into account (if there are any, probably on a minuscule scale that effects our solar system) the galactic climate changes or what other effects might trickle down to our solar system….
from my own research i have found that the current climate changes are from polar mag shifts, volcanic action, solar system changes and maybe a few others i dont know about or havent been able to study… there is not a single bit of FACTUAL evidence to definitively say that global warming is the cause, there isnt even any real evidence to begin with.

the bleeding hearts and the scientists who are crying get together on an island somewhere because they/you are idiots. nasa/giss statements do not reflect upon anyone unless they have put their own names forward ON THE DOCUMENT, it only reflects on nasa leads (not the foremen, not the scientists, not even there the lackeys that have the job of kissing butts all day every day) man up, and dont let other people do your thinking for you.
pull the nose-ring off and do something for yourselves… if thats even possible for you at this point.

Uh, oh. Some glaciers that are growing. It proves global warming, somehow, someway, I’m sure. I’ll wait for the gymnastics that are sure to ensue. Those of you that KNOW that man is causing real and irreversible global warming KNOW only what you’ve been told. Nothing more.

  7. Oh my god Ted. Are you really this stupid?

    • Ted Biondo

Yes coprof, I must be stupid having worked for 43 years without a contract or union to back ME up in my job. I was simply solving problems for multimillion dollar projects, helping place a man on the moon, while working with NASA and was unemployed, as an at-will employee for a grand total of 1 week during my 43 year career.

It has recently been reported that the heads of the global warming organizations have edited data, covered up data that didn’t agree with their conclusions, etc. Look it up. I have to go, this global warming and your comment is making me uncomfortable!

  8. How many of these NASA scientists ever won the Nobel Peace Prize!

  9. JRM_CommonSense

Let me see, as the article says, these are all people who HAVE worked for NASA. I am thinking that since they are probably no longer on the public payroll, they are looking for a way to get back on the public payroll. Guess what, If I say that NASA never takes a stand unless it has done the due dilligence to support it, maybe NASA will ask for a lot of federal funding to undertake a “complete” study of to see if “manmade carbon dioxide is having a catastrophic impact on global climate change”. They would then have to hire a bunch of people to do this, and who better than people who HAVE worked for NASA before.

That is a brilliant idea. Let’s wait a little while to see if it happens.

  10. You must watch An Inconsistent Truth. People have been talking about global warming for hundreds of years. Does it happen? Yes. The second law of thermodynamics explains why. At one time the earth had large polar ice caps and vast glacial fields due to a catastrophic event. This event did not change the environment outside of the atmosphere, however, leading to the warming that has continue for centuries. Ice melts – temperature rises – ice melts – temperature rises – etc. I’m sure you get the point. We have not had a significant environmental event to reverse this process in recorded history.

Yvonne – welcome to the blog. I am not an expert in this are but searching Wikipedia on Ice Ages – it says there have been 5 ice ages on Earth in the last 2 billinons years or so, and there have been the glacial periods you wrote of with the last occurring approximately 20,000 years ago.

      Excerpt:

The current ice age, the Pliocene-Quaternary glaciation, started about 2.58 million years ago during the late Pliocene, when the spread of ice sheets in the Northern Hemisphere began. Since then, the world has seen cycles of glaciation with ice sheets advancing and retreating on 40,000- and 100,000-year time scales called glacial periods, glacials or glacial advances, and interglacial periods, interglacials or glacial retreats. The earth is currently in an interglacial, and the last glacial period ended about 10,000 years ago. All that remains of the continental ice sheets are the Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets and smaller glaciers such as on Baffin Island.

According to scientists they don’t know exactly what causes the ice ages, or the retreats of the ice. They simply don’t know – they weren’t here. There is evidence that it happened, but only theories as to why it happened. The cooling, then heating, then cooling have been taking place for hundreds of millions of years. So, man has existed for how long? Scientists are guessing on a lot of the heating and cooling. It seems to have been happening for a long time before man’s started the so-called global warming period and will be happening probably long after man has destroyed themselves with stupid leaders calling the wrong shots.

      Excerpt:
The next well-documented ice age, and probably the most severe of the last billion years, occurred from 850 to 630 million years ago (the Cryogenian period) and may have produced a Snowball Earth in which glacial ice sheets reached the equator,[32] possibly being ended by the accumulation of greenhouse gases such as CO2 produced by volcanoes.

The point I’m trying to make is that Al Gore and company don’t know what the heck is going on either, especially since the time back to Jesus is ONLY 2000 years -and what is 2000 years in the scheme of Ice Ages in terms of time. What does Al Gore or Move-on.org know about what happened a mere 10,000 or 20,000 years ago. They can’t even remember back to the 70’s when these same people were predicting the end of the Earth was going into another ice age – then it warmed up again – now it’s climate change – they don’t want to be wrong again – it will cost them some green money!

  11. Ted,
I agree with your position with respect to Al Gore and company. An Inconsistant Truth refutes Al Gore’s stand on global warming. I would enjoy engaging you on the age of the earth, however that is not the current topic of conversation. The scientific communit changes its collective mind with the wind.
    Blessings,
    Yvonne
