Romney’s experience and knowledge carried the debate

Romney showed what knowledge and experience can do against President Obama who has neither.  Obama continues to think that if you implement a program or cut taxes for some people, that you need to raise taxes on others to fund it – a static view of the economy.

He doesn’t understand the concept of growing the economy and raising revenue by creating more jobs. Obama sees the economy as a static entity, requiring increased taxes to pay for programs, rather than growth and freedom creating a dynamic economy that will raise all boats!

It’s hard not to be condescending to president Obama, who obviously doesn’t understand the economy and has proved it for the last 4 years. Romney was the teacher and Obama was the student tonight!

Finally, Romney got to talk directly to the people without the media filter between them. The debate showed the people that the Romney’s so-called voucher plan for healthcare, as Obama and the media have defined it, really provides a choice to remain on Medicare or chose to purchase a private plan and allow competition between plans to decide which succeeds and which does not. It’s called free enterprise, Mr. President!

Romney showed he was bipartisan and compassionate, providing leadership with the ideas and goals, then sit down with both parties and listen to all the ideas presented as he did as governor with 87% Democrats to work out a solution, not dictate to Congress this is the plan, take it or leave it, like Obama did. Not one Republican voted for it!

That way, the members of both parties of Congress will have buy in and know what’s in the bill before they vote for it, Ms Pelosi.

Obama fans, it wasn’t the moderator’s fault, as some have claimed, it was your candidate’s lack of understanding of the economy that made it a great night for Mitt Romney!

  1. I can see why the democrats are so in favor of early voting. What a masacre.

    • Ted Biondo

You got that right, Juice! Dems are going to need to vote both early and often.

  2. That could have been anyone in that empty suit last night. I just want to know who feeds his telepromptor because he is clueless without it. I really want to see his college grades now. The guy just isn’t very smart, i’m sorry, and knows nothing beyond pandering and giving away trillions in free money to his friends. I think it’s called looting.

I see Algore was blaming it on the altitude. LOL

  3. JRM_CommonSense

The Romney fans need to be careful. He has some areas that need real work,

    1. If he he has to find a way to get that snarky little smile off of his face when someone else is talking.

2.He also needs to restrain himself from employing that CEO “talk over someone else” and “bully the moderator approach” to getting the last word.

    3. He needs to refrain from trying to force way into the management of the process.

    4. He has to find a way to give concrete examples of what he is going to do. Headline spouting is not going to cut it as the process continues.

If he continues to operate this way, as these debates continue, many voters will find the above things more and more grating and the likability factor will take a really big hit. The voters are asking for facts and specifics, and we are not getting them.

Funny, I’m not feeling the compassion from candidate Romney, as I’m one of the 47% he feels invisions themselves as “victims.”
I waited to see which loopholes in the taxes he planned to close and saw him sidestep that question.
Waited to hear about what he was replacing “Obamacare” with for Americans only to hear he’s dumping the issue onto each State to take care of on their own. That’s code in the Conservative lingo for “lots of luck” and hope you live in a weathy State and not a poor one when it comes to your medical needs.
He was very plain in that the Fed only plans to give for your tax dollars protection against foreign enemies on other countries soil. And he will be ending rules for banks etc. in a wholesale manner, but leave a few rules inplace, not telling us which ones he feels are the right ones.
I did love best of all his plan to speak to those who agree with him in the Congress so he can get things done. And the obvious falsehood he works well with those who diagree with him. His refusal to answer which Dodd/Frank rules he plans to eliminate and why they are so bad for business was the proof of how well he gets along with others.
Ted, Romney did a nice job the other night and the President didn’t do as well. That’s an obvious fact. Praising the man for not answering questions that will effect this nation, and are his plan for it, takes away from Romney’s performance and makes it only a very nice political tap dance.
Americans tuned in for so much more from that man since he says he wants the job as President of the United States.
Even on the local level, I never presented a plan to anyone that I didn’t want to answer or couldn’t answer all the questions they asked of me. If you believe in the thing than you know it backwards and forwards and can explain it well with pride in the protect. Guesss in my household we don’t base our vote via the soundbites, but on the issues and solutions being offered.
Today I noted Conservatives are saying the figures are cooked for unemployment and that the recovery isn’t like all the rest before it. They use former President Clinton’s figures etc for this idea about recovery. Recent recessions show a very different pattern for recovery because this is a very differnt world economy and employment for the U.S.A.. Some of us understood this during the Bush year’s and mentioned it. Guess you are just a little late in catching up, but better late than never in the matter.

So now I see my comments are awaiting “moderation.”
If you plan to change me, could you take my thinning hair and make it nice and full again and also I’d appreciate it if you could moderate my aching bones aa well as lowing my blood pressure a few points.
Never thought I live long enough to see the day anyone was afraid to print anything this little old lady had to say.

    • Ted Biondo

Welcome Back Carol – I hope you are enjoying your new location? Sorry about the moderation, but it has only been one-half hour since you commented. I only do this part time you know – I don’t get paid a dime.

Your moderated comment sent a message to my email or I wouldn’t have even come back to the blog for hours. I will never try to stop a little “old” lady from saying anything, even though I will disagree with you most of the time. That’s why I came back so fast so you may have your say.

Getting off on the right, or should I say, left foot again, huh? The blog system software was changed and everyone had to be reapproved. You just haven’t been here for awhile.

As far as the debate, Roney did do very well, much more than expected if you have been listening to the national media. Without getting into every detail, the most important points to be taken from the debate is that Romney’s view of the economy is that it is dynamic – meaning it grows and contracts. So if you can lower the taxes, jobs will be created and the economy will grow and revenue will increase more than if you raise the taxes!

President Obama views the economy as static – meaning he thinks that if one person gets more than another, that person took it from the one who doesn’t have it. So, you must raise the taxes on the one who has it and give it to the one who does not. The higher taxes causes small businesses not to hire new employees, the economy contracts and the revenue actually drops – you raises taxes again and the downward spiral begins.

Also, a business leader like Romney will come to the meeting with goals and objectives, not every detail of the plan, because that will be developed with his experts and he will sit down and discuss these objectives with those who agree and those who have other ideas, reach a consensus of the best of both ideas, and solve the problem.

Obama , on the other hand uses the Chicago way – don’t vet any ideas dictate with the healthcare to both sides. It’s Chicago Obama’s way or the highway – that’s the difference between business leaders and political leaders, Ms Carol.

  6. Carol, a 3-tenths swing in the employment numbers doesn’t happen with only 111,000 jobs created, unless the books have been “cooked” . It normally takes about 250,000 jobs, just to keep the status quo. Perhaps 400,000-500,000 people gave up looking for work in the Obama recession, and dropped off the rolls.

    • Ted Biondo

I agree with you, Snuss. Exactly what I thought when I heard the numbers. It doesn’t add up when it requires 150,000 to 200,000 just to keep up with the growth in population. Also, those leaving the labor force remained almost constant. Those numbers have some flaw – probably Obama mathematicians, just right for the election campaign!

BTW, most of the reports on unemployment are revised upward the next month. So, watch carefully next month, fortunately for Obama he will make the best of it for the last month of campaigning. Don’t foget, many people are being hired for the holiday season and will be let go right after Christmas returns are made

Real high paying jobs with benefits, huh?

  7. Thought I’d pass this on….

    Season’s Greetings!

    T’was the night before elections,
    And all thru’ the town,
    Tempers were flaring
    Emotions ran up and down.

    I, in my bathrobe
With a cat in my lap,
    Had shut off the TV,
    tired of the political crap.

    When all of a sudden,
    There arose such a noise,
    I peered out my window,
And saw Obama and his boys

They had come for my wallet,
    They wanted my pay
    To hand out to others
Who had not worked a day!

    He snatched up my money,
    And quick as a wink,
    Jumped back on his bandwagon
As I gagged from the stink.

    He then rallied his henchmen
    Who were pulling his cart.
I could tell they were out
    To tear my country apart!

    On Fannie, on Freddie,
    On Biden and Ayers!
    On Acorn, on Pelosi!
    He screamed at the pairs!

They took off for his cause,
And as they flew out of sight,
I heard him laugh at a nation
Who wouldn’t stand up and fight!

So I leave you to think on this one final note…
    IF YOU DON’T LIKE SOCIALISM,
    THEN GET OUT AND VOTE!!!!
    GOD BLESS AMERICA ,
    OUR ONLY HOPE…..

    WAVE OUR FLAG HIGH!!!

  8. Back to the unemployment numbers…

Morici to Moneynews: Unemployment Fell on Part-Time Workers, Not Real Improvement

The U.S. employment rate dropped to 7.8 percent in September from 8.1 percent in August, thanks largely to gains in part-time workers and not due to noted fundamental improvements in the labor market, said Peter Morici, a professor at the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland.

The economy added a net 114,000 jobs, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported, adding its household survey reported that total employment rose by 873,000 in September, much of which was due to an increase in part-time work. Some 582,000 Americans took part-time positions because of slack business conditions or those jobs were the only work they could find.

Did everyone see the video of Mr. Romney sneaking his talking points out of his pocket and on to the podium when he walked over to it at the beginning of the debate? Check for yourself:

  12. Carol Foster

    Ted,
Well thanks for allowing my comments again. Haven’t said much since moving here but I do read your blog.
May I say again, I never asked for any change in a community where I lived without having been able to answer all the questions concerning it.
The supposed tax changes Romney is asking is a very major deal.
No you don’t wait to talk it over with others after the election in an effort to make it work. Once you’ve said it will work, as Romney has claimed, all the ducks should have already been in row long ago. That doesn’t mean adjustments can’t be made down the road, as things change wihch might cause the need for additional changes. Nothing remains static and this President has never said that’s his feelings in the matter.
As for your vision of how the economy actually works you’re out of date.
And asking for more fairness in taxes isn’t saying because you’ve done well in life, another portion of the population feels they are entitled not to work and you are supposed to take care of them either. Since those making a great deal of money haven’t be reinvesting back and creating jobs as you claim will happen with Romney, it would be silly to keep thinking somehow a different face in the oval office will magically make that happen now.
The give-backs to the oil companies for the past 100 years to encourage them to keep up production for this nation stopped working long ago. 76% of the oil leases already awarded are sitting without being drilled upon. We hand out the deductions and the oil is sold elsewhere in the world for larger profits.
If Romney can’t come to the table with his tax & medical plans intact prior to the election they shouldn’t be considered as what he plans to do if elected to office. I honestly know of no real business person in the upper reaches who don’t do a full presentation of their plan and answer the questions of those they are selling it to as being sound and beneficial.
We may all laugh at Eddie Murphy all those years ago in the film, Beverly Hills Cop, using the phrase: “trust me” which we all undestood meant there was trouble ashead for those who followed his leed. But this is real life, not a film we enjoy and laugh when things go wrong but come out right in one hour and 50 minutes later.
I don’t want a fairy tale, just the facts of those deducations that will affect my taxes if the man is elected. I’m not angry he has a plan. I expect him to be different from the President. I don’t expect a plan without significant answers that are the basics since he’s said he plans to close loopholes many times in his commentary and speeches.
So cut the politics and get to the meat of the matter. Which deductions get the ax for the wealthy and the middle class??????????

  13. JRM – If by “sneaking his talking points…on to the podium” you mean “placing his handkerchief on the podium”, then yes, we saw the video of Romney doing that.

The true story is here and here.

    • Ted Biondo

Obama got creamed in the debate. So, now all his supporters are going to the Chicago tactic – Romney is a liar. Whenever his lips moved he was lying. Romney hates Big Bird. The moderator lost control. Al gore even blamed it on the altitude at the debate site, since Obama had only just arrived. College students said it wasn’t fair that Obama couldn’t use his telepromter. OMG! It all folllows Obama’s mantra – he is never at fault in any situation – it’s always someone or something else!!

  14. Carol Foster

I see, Ted, you don’t know the answers to the questions either.
The answers have nothing to do with either man’s performance in the debate but everything to do with the running of this nation. Guess that’s trivia nowadays. Sorry I thought you were serious about the issues. My mistake. Won’t bother you again for a very longtime.
    Carol Foster

    • Ted Biondo

Carol, just looking for an excuse to leave? That’s Ok. See you later!

  15. JRM_CommonSense

Oh look what I found under my Christmas Tree – 15 new ships for next year and every year after that. And there was also a big box of “read my lips, no new taxes”! I guess that is a new version of that re-gifting thing. Can’t wait to see what else is under there! But I guess I will have to because there will be a meeting after Christmas and Santa Claus will stand up an say he wants to give more gifts. Then he will have the Christmas experts start to think about what those gifts will look like. But rest assured, everything will be ready to go on January 2oth, and everything will be fixed by April 15th, and the world will be better place by July 4th. Oh I can’t wait, things will be so good. All the elves will be back to work and everyone’s house will be above water and there will be a car in every pot and two chickens in every garage.

  16. truth hurts

I don’t know (except for the liberal excuse makers) why it is so hard to see why he lost, and lost BIG.

Obama is used to/come to expect that all he had to do was come to a venue and all he would get is cheers from fans. All he had to do is speak from a telepromter/prepared (canned if you will) retoric and the crowd would be “enthralled”, hanging on every word. Finally not only no one to challenge him/facts or a favorable media interviewer to shelter him.

In this case the mediator was no help and he was (gasp) expected to stand on his own/record.

Expected to “answer” questions with factual details (oh the horror).

He was out of his element with no record to fall back on. PERIOD

I expect next time the chicago bully will come out.

But with much the same result
