Dr. Ben Carson blasts PC speech, ObamaCare, culture, the IRS and fiscal irresponsibility with Obama on the dais

At this year’s National Prayer Breakfast, held at the Washington Hilton in Washington D.C. before an audience that included President Obama on the dais, Dr. Benjamin Carson, an African-American, who is the Director of Pediatric Neurosurgeon at John Hopkins Hospital, and was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2008, spoke against politically correct speech, ObamaCare, and numerous other current topics.

At the beginning of his speech, Dr. Carson shared his disdain for political correctness, the efforts of some to silence the views of others that they deem to be politically incorrect. He said that Americans should stop being afraid to speak up and defend their beliefs; he also encouraged people to respect the individuals they disagree with.

Carson held little back, condemning political correctness as “a horrible thing” that is “dangerous,” as it hampers freedom of thought and expression. We’ve got to get over this sensitivity and it keeps people from saying what they really believe,” Carson said.

His alternative to ObamaCare was, “when babies are born they are given a birth certificate, electronic medical records and a medical savings account. The medical savings account, to which family members or others could deposit money into, would cover the expenses for standard routine health care throughout the life of that individual after birth.”

He also said that people would have control over their own health care through medical accounts, rather than bureaucrats and that there would be no death panels.

Dr. Carson also addressed the current state of culture in our country, stating, ““I think particularly about ancient Rome. Very powerful — nobody could even challenge them militarily…they destroyed themselves from within. Moral decay. Fiscal irresponsibility.”

He said that in the bible, God had determined the tax rate, a tithe of 10%. If you make $10B you pay $1B. If you make ten dollars, you pay a dollar. There was no free ride if you had problems in the field, nor was one punished because they had more.

Remember, Mr. President – Envy, which you espouse against the wealthy during most of your speeches, is one of the Seven Deadly Sins!

The video of Dr. Carson’s speech is 27 minutes long, starts with his introduction, which allows the video to load. If you wish to skip the political correctness portion of the speech, go to the 18:00 minute mark where Dr. Carson obviously doesn’t allow politically incorrect comments, or Obama being on the dais, to stop him from exercising his First Amendment rights.

It took a lot to give this speech in front of Obama, but the good doctor, who has great credentials, made the most of his opportunity – and his speech displayed one of the reasons why he is the recipient of the Medal of Freedom – courage.

It was about time someone important criticized this president’s policies to his face. It’s obvious the mainstream media will never do it.

  1. Anyone else would feel shame, at having their failed agenda so thoroughly discredited, in public. But, first, you need to have a sense of shame.

Dr. Carlson hit the nail on the head! He showed his courage in giving his speech in front of the country destroying dynamic duo of Obama and Biden. You could see by the looks on their faces that they were not happy that someone would speak out against them in their presence.

Keep up the fight, Ted!! Speak the truth, while the likes of cunningham continue to spew forth garbage and prove their idiocy.

  3. At least Dr. Ben voted for Obama.

Takes a lot of guts to use a pulpit like the National Prayer Breakfast to state your positions when there is no built in opportunity to have to defend or prove the points you are making. In fact, Dr. Carson took the same approach that quite a few others have taken at the National Prayer Breakfast over the years. He is not the first speaker to state his opposition to Administration policies in front of the President and other members of the current Administration. It happens all the time at this event. What did he have toi fear by doing so. It is a built in right in this country, and there is no attempt by this administration, or any other in the past, to take that freedom away. I have yet to see any attempt to amend the Constitution to take that freedom away. Just because you want to pre4tend that this “boogie” man is running around, doesn’t mean it it true. You are free to say anything that you want. If you don’t say it, then that is your fault, no one elses.

BTW, “His alternative to ObamaCare was, “when babies are born they are given a birth certificate, electronic medical records and a medical savings account. The medical savings account, to which family members or others could deposit money into, would cover the expenses for standard routine health care throughout the life of that individual after birth.” is a tad bit short sighted. I would suggests that insurance would still have to play a significant part in your management of your health care. To think otherwise is misleading and short sighted, not to mention idiotic.
