U.S. Congress trying to exempt itself from Obamacare!

Congress doesn’t have to retire on Social Security like most of us – they have their own Cadillac plan – and now they are trying to exempt themselves from Obamacare!

Prior to the bill’s passage, Nancy Pelosi instructed House members that they would have to pass Obamacare, to see what was in the bill. Apparently, Congress members have now read it; found out what’s in it and want out!

There is no better argument for the repeal of this one-size-fits-all healthcare monstrosity than the fact that the ones who are forcing Obamacare on the American people don’t want it forced on them. What’s good enough for the American people is not good enough for Congress.

Today’s Politico reports that the House and Senate congressional leadership—both Democrats and Republicans working in cahoots with Obama Administration officials—have been secretly negotiating for months trying to find a way to exempt Members of Congress and their staffs from being forced into Obamacare’s health insurance exchanges.

Hundreds of Obama’s unions and supporters have already been given waivers from the healthcare abomination, why wouldn’t those who passed the law also be exempt? OMG!

By removing themselves from a key Obamacare component, lawmakers and aides would  be held to a different standard than the people who put them in office.

During the 2009-10 battle over what’s now dubbed Obamacare, Republicans insisted  that Capitol Hill hands must have the same health care as the rest of the  American people.

The problem stems from whether members and aides set to enter the exchanges  would have their health insurance premiums subsidized by their employer — in  this case, the federal taxpayers.

If not, aides and lawmakers  in both parties fear that staffers — especially low-paid junior aides — could be  hit with thousands of dollars in new health care costs, prompting them to seek  jobs elsewhere.

And the rest of Americans in private jobs won’t be hit with thousands of dollars under this cost-saving healthcare plan? Who does Congress think they are, Congress?

The coverage of millions of the uninsured, which was the bill’s original promise, will leave tens-of-millions still uninsured because the state health exchanges are floundering.

Author and supporter of Obamacare, Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D–MT) said just the other day to Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, who is in charge of implementation of Obamacare that, “A lot of people have no idea about all of this.… I just see a huge train wreck coming down, and you and I have discussed this many times and I don’t see any results yet.”

Well, when the train wreck occurs, the Congressman and his peers are hoping that they miss the train and are helping their supporters to miss it also.

“I had no idea that were not smart enough to realize Presidents don’t control the gas prices…funny thing is …you somehow think Bush was good for gas prices and he was the reason for it…?” – Now you see how stuprid you are for thinking Obama is the reasin for your increased 401K value.

What should Bush have done different to prevent 9-11?

So you don’t think invading Afghanistan was the appropriate response after 9-11? The war resolution was almost unanimously passed in Congrees?

So you don’t think it was appropraite to invade Iraq after 9-11 and based upon all the intel from the Clinton administration that said Saddam had WMDs?

Please explain how the two tax cuts dismantled our economy?

Embassy attacks? That rich coming from a BO supporter

  2. Jaybo

JRM – If I read someone else self-righteously projecting the behavior that he or she displays with great regularity on to others, as you did, then yes, I will point it out.

I believe that Cliff’s (JRM) BFF (Brian) has revealed himself to be Paul. He’s not really that bright as exhibited by his inability to figure out our occupations even though he was truly very interested yet wasn’t able to pick up on the many hints in previous posts. Add this to his failure comprehend the exaggeration used in the word “S-T-O-O-O-O-O-O-P-I-D.” Finally, it appears about his only friend in this blog is his own personal BFF Cliffy.

And he’s going to make his enemies cry by flashing his all important union card. Just wondering if he is a legit union working contributing in the private sector or one of those public sector union employees who are overpaid, under worked and mostly under qualified but swilling like pigs on the “people’s” money.

So let’s extend a CHEERS’ welcome the mutual BFF’s Cliffy and Pauly.

    C-L-I-F-F-Y!!! P-A-U-L-Y!!!

  4. Brian Opsahl

    Wow,more insults..

So Mr.naveyflyer…the unions you seem to hate so much are the same one’s that made your military jets the best in the world…your obviously not smart enough to realize this yet,and when you grow up and enter the real world …one where the taxpayers aren’t paying YOUR salary and benifits…go find a good paying job then you can thank my union brothers for the struggle for all those good wages and benny you get…idiot

What is your wierd obsession with cheers, we can all play that childish game.

  5. Brian Opsahl

    Stupid…not stuprid
    reason…not reasin

See how it work’s against you sometimes…idiots

August 6 memo on Bush’s desk….warning him of a UBL attack …the 6th of August a full 35 days before…hhhmmm…don’t tell me it’s really not bushs fault maybe Condolezza should have hit him over the head with that memo..!!

Yes we should have went into Afganistain…but absolutly NOT Iraq…

You never cut taxes during war time…it’s economic dissaster waiting to happen…and it did..Fact..!!

There was over 60 Embassy attacks under GW Bush…more than 13 employees that were killed and several injured….cue the criketts..zzzzz NOT one word about all those killed hhhmmm why is that boys..!!

Terry, are you inscure or something …why do you need to be told over and over the same things…?

  6. snuss

“the unions you seem to hate so much are the same one’s that made your military jets the most expensive in the world”. There, I fixed that for you.

  7. wilson

Brian, can you identify those 60 embassy attacks? Can you also show us where an attack lasted for hours? In addition, can you identify which attacks in which did the consulate call for help and was turned down. Furthermore, which one did we have assistance less than 3 hours away and the rescue team were told to stand down.

    Pauly — aka Brian,

Here is the union comment I made: “Just wondering if he is a legit union working contributing in the private sector or one of those public sector union employees who are overpaid, under worked and mostly under qualified but swilling like pigs on the “people’s” money.”

Here is your comment: “… the unions you seem to hate so much are the same one’s that made your military jets the best in the world …”

Now read each of them again real carefully and tell me the difference. It’s not that hard, even for you Pauly.

If you read my posts in this blog you will realize that I’ve been in the private sector for many years. My salary and benefits have been based upon my performance each and every year. Unlike the unions, I don’t get the same raise no matter how well or poorly I perform. My raises, bonuses and promotion are based upon I well I perform for my company and how that performance stacks up against my peers.

Finally with your statement: “…one where the taxpayers aren’t paying YOUR salary and benefits …” you seem to have a problem with the rate of pay for the military. Most members of the military, even in peace time, have difficult living conditions compared to the civilians, especially if they are married. Many spend months on end away from their spouse and children. They get 30 days of leave per year that counts weekends and holidays. Most military work the 5 days + weekends on duty.

For me, I was on an aircraft carrier for 6 – 9 months at a time and flew all hours day and night no matter the weather. And there was no leave granted, except for emergencies. I was home for one Christmas during my time in the military. And yet you seem to have a problem with the fact that taxpayers were paying my salary.

To top it off, you make this asinine statement today, while we have had men and women sacrificing their lives and limbs for the past 11+ years so you can resent paying them with taxpayer money. That pretty much sums it up for you, Pauly.

  9. Terry

Have you figured out NavyPilot’s and my careers yet?

“See how it work’s against you sometimes…idiots” – O know the difference between a typo and not knowing how to spell.

    “August 6 memo on Bush’s desk….warning him of a UBL attack …the 6th of August a full 35 days before…hhhmmm
” – Considering bin Laden had declared war on this country in 1996 and had conducted multiple attacks on U.S. facilities, this isn’t shocking. Did that memo say where the attacks would take place? Did the memo say when the attacks would take place? Did the memo say what the means of attack would be? What would a President Brian Opsahl had done?

“You never cut taxes during war time…it’s economic dissaster waiting to happen…and it did..Fact..!!” – JFK/LBJ cut taxes in 1963, effective 1964, during the start of the VietNam war. Economy boomed until 1969 when LBJ’s war tax went into effect, then a recession started. Sorry Gilligan/Woody, Bush tax cuts did not wreck the economy – the housing bubble did.

I’m agreeing with Wilson, let’s see that link.

“Now read each of them again real carefully and tell me the difference. It’s not that hard, even for you Pauly.” I have to disagree with you on this, I’ll bet this will be hard for him.

“Yes we should have went into Afganistain…but absolutly NOT Iraq…” – So Clinton, Kerry, Biden, Edwards, etc were wrong when they voted in favor of this?

  10. wilson

    Talking about unions
The Liberal Union Behind the IRS

It’s about a union: the National Treasury Employees Union. The NTEU. A left-wing union representing 150,000 employees in 31 separate government agencies, including the IRS. A union that not only endorsed President Obama for election and re-election, but a union whose current president, Colleen Kelly, was a 14-year IRS agent and now is both union president and Obama administration appointee (of which more in a moment).
It’s about 94% of NTEU union contributions going to Democrats in the Senate and House in 2012 — candidates who campaigned as vociferous opponents of the Tea Party.

  11. Brian Opsahl

Ok boys one at a time….ggeezzz

Navyflyer…your not paying attention…again..all I said was the taxpayers are paying your salary when your in the service flying those aircraft….thats it..!! My brother the LT.Colonel has been drawing for over 20 some years now….so please don’t attempt to question my patriotism towards our service members.

Wilson your attempt to tie in the union with the IRS scandle is BS and you know it.

The 60 attacks were discused on msnbc on Monday, and Tuesday so if you wish to prove me wrong then good luck…because they happened and nobody seem to care untill the wingnuts kept at it on Benghazi….Facts boys just the facts

nuss if you think it’s the union salarys and not dozens of high paid executives that make the price of a fighter jet so high….I have a bridge for sale just for you…Mr. anti-union thugster

  12. Brian Opsahl

Why do you republicans think that everybody should make less instead of more….how do you think we got to be such a rich Nation in the first place…the middle class that’s how…built on fair wages and good benifits…why are you guys against this…?

The race isn’t to the bottom…is it..?

  13. wilson

Brian, MSNBC, I want proof not fantasies .
If they claimed there were 60 embasyattacks, then they lie. Twelve embassies were attacked while Bush was in office and we were in two wars.
The issue really isn’t the number, tell me how many of those would have been prevented if the administration hadn’t waiting 7 hours and then did nothing. When did they make up the reason for the attack and lie about the facts?

“MSNBC Now Back In Fourth Place Among Cable-News Networks”

  14. Brian Opsahl

Wilson a simple google of embassy attacks under bush brought up hundreds you can choose from…have at sir…!

After 9 hearings and still not a darn thing….so keep spending the taxpayers money on this witch hunt…and let me know when they find anything…why did your republican friends on the investagating team try and change the e-mails thay receieved from all the players….why would they try and do that…..why because they got nothing…thats why

    9 count them…9 hearings so far….and nutin..

  15. wilson

Yea and nowhere is the number 60 attacks.
Learn to take more time when you read and don’t listen to MSNBC.
    Still no comment on Gosenell?

  16. Brian Opsahl

I do not know who Gosnell is and why would you care..?

Yes there was about a total of 60 embassy attacks, mostly in Iraq….but the point is willy. why was nothing said about all those deaths back then …just now your worried about them…hhhmm

  17. snuss

    Just to inform you, Brian:

Dr. Kermit Gosnell was sentenced on Wednesday to life in prison without parole for the murder of a baby born alive in a botched abortion, who prosecutors said would have survived if the doctor had not “snipped” its neck with scissors.
Dr. Gosnell was also sentenced to a total of 30 to 60 years on two charges of conspiring to kill two of the babies and on one charge of violating the corrupt organizations act, which has to do with ordering subordinates to commit crimes. And he was sentenced to two and a half to five years on involuntary manslaughter in the case of Karnamaya Mongar, a woman who died after being given too much anesthetic in Dr. Gosnell’s West Philadelphia abortion clinic.

    Read more at: http://www.nytimes.com/2013/05/16/us/kermit-gosnell-abortion-doctor-gets-life-term.html?_r=0

  18. wilson

I guess you wouldn’t care. Where do you get your news?

  19. Terry

PMSNBC? Really. 60 embassey attacks in a war zone – what a suprise! How many of those 60 attacks did the Bush Administration lie to the American people and blame on a You Tube video? That’s teh point Gilligan!

Difference between a typo and someone who doesn’t undertsnad Engish: “…all I said was the taxpayers are paying your salary when your in the service flying those aircraft….thats it..!!”

“…all I said was the taxpayers are paying your salary when YOU’RE in the service flying those aircraft….THAT’S it..!!” – Do you what a contraction is? I hope your public school English teachers are not reading this.

  20. Jaybo

Wilson – I’m guessing Brian gets a lot of his news and information from his union’s newsletters. You really should follow that link and read the front page articles from a couple issues. The propaganda that is spewed forth on the front page of each issue, clearly designed to infect the thinking of the union members, is stunning. These articles can be summed up as: Conservatives/Republicans/Bush/Romney=BAD, Liberals/Democrats/Obama=Gloriously wonderful saviors. It is paragraph after paragraph of inaccurate, left wing propaganda – exhibit A in groupthink and passive union thuggery. These articles are written to make the uninformed think there is no better life for them other than in a union, supported by the loving comfort provided to them by Democrats.

The similarities between these newsletters and Brian’s posts on this blog are hard to miss.

  21. Brian Opsahl

    Ah Jaybo,

You could not be more wrong…I haven’t read our newsletter in probably 2 or 3 years so keep guessing.

I am the skilled trades chairman for region 4
I am an officer of our local 592 UAW
I worked 3 non union jobs as a welder out of high school
I have now been working for the same company that is a union shop for over 28 and a 1/2 years most of that as a welder and an assembler.
I build the spearfish torpedo engines for the British Royal Navy and the other item I build is classified until August, but lets just say it’s watching from over 5 miles high..?
I make a fair wage and our benifits are shrinking over the last 10 years slowly eating away at them.
My education stopped after high school, but I have had a steady job since I was 14 years old
My spelling at times is terrible and my grammer is 3rd grade at best.
The old days of how Unions were run are over. we demand they give the company 8 for 8 show up on time and work as smart as possible. We have to because we have to compete with folks making alot less than we do so we have to be good at what we do…very good.

I don’t understand why you guys keep guessing at what I do and how I do it, because not one of you are correct at any of it.

So their you go guys start ripping apart and putting YOUR words to my deeds.

  22. Brian Opsahl

Why doe’s this Dr. Gosnell matter and why do you keep asking me about him..? I do not understand your constant questioning about him..?

  23. Terry

The point of Dr. Gosnell and you not knowing who he is shows that you get your news from far left news outlets since they didn’t cover that story. He’s an abortionist that just got convicted for killing three newborns by snipping their spinal cords. Some on the Left defended him.

  24. Brian Opsahl

Terry, That’s sick..!! what is wrong with you..

Since you support GW Bush so much doe’s that make you responsible for the killing of over 100,000 thousand Iraqs….because according to YOUR logic…you must be held responsible because your a conservative….I don’t read or watch crap like that and I like all Liberals deplore abortion…you flippin idiot…!!!

  25. wilson

“I don’t read or watch crap like that and I like all Liberals deplore abortion…you flippin idiot…!!!”
So you keep your head in the sand and suggest that we are the uninformed. If you ignore it it never happened.
What happened to watch Hubris, now were are back to the 100,000 you are like a broken liberal talking points record

  26. Brian Opsahl

I choose what I watch …NOT you, are you kidding me, and because I don’t watch or follow what you watch or read im un-informed…really…nice try willy. so who made you Judge Jury and convictor…or God.

So just how many babys have you had willy….oh thats right your a man and men can’t produce offspring they can only contribute to….so as a republican your against intrusions into our lives …just NOT so much with our Women…right.. them you wish to control.

  27. wilson

    What are talking about Brian,
I didn’t convict the man, a jury of his peers did, but you wouldn’t know that because you are a low information voter.
You just can’t help yourself, I am sure you are a smart guy, too bad you continually display your ignorance and unwillingness to to see past your nose.

Where are you hiding your brain? “… GWB … killing of over 100,000 thousand Iraqs …”

We were / are at war with the terrorists of Iraq — including Saddam. A war approved by almost all of the Senate, including Hillary, Reid, Schumer, etc.

If that is truly your position, then are you blaming Obama for the deaths of all of the Afghanistans since 2009?

War truly sucks. Nobody wants it. However, once you are in it, the objective is to win and that entails killing as many of the enmey as is necessary.

As for you position of “…I like all Liberals deplore abortion …,” if your brain was lost on the war issue, your brain must have never existed on this issue! You must be the only person in the country that does not know that The Right to Choose — aka abortion — is a very major platform in the Democratic / Liberal / Progressive party. Read up on your friend, Obama. While he was in the ILLINAUSEA Senate, he voted “present” on the infantacide bill.

  29. Terry

“Terry, That’s sick..!! what is wrong with you” – he’s part of the left-wing pro-choice crowd. His choice just comes not only before birth, but after birth also.

“I don’t read or watch crap like that and I like all Liberals deplore abortion…you flippin idiot…!!!” – Liberals deplore abortion? That’s one of the dumbest remarks I have ever heard. Obama ran this summer on the “war on women” and abortion rights.

Like I have told you before, be glad you have a union guarenteeing your job, with your smartes, you wouldn’t last on your own.

  30. Brian Opsahl

He ran the war on women because of stupid statements coming from your republicans…are you trying to now say all those illigitament rape coments were not the war on our women. How many republicans lost their seats because of that war on our women…?
Im 51 years old and have never heard a Liberal yet say they liked anything about an abortion…yes we deplore it, you think that you can control a women’s decisions…and how many times have you been pregnant….oh that’s right your a man…you can’t can you…?

So to dumb and dumber….keep searching keep guessing and go home tonite and tell YOUR women what to do,and let me know how that turns out…

  31. Brian Opsahl

Dumberer….Not sure just how stupid you are about Unions, but this is for certain…We do not have a job unless we are better than the other guys…that would be you…sorry it hurts you that with just a high school education I make more than you and the other dumb guy put together….cry all you want…I will do the same all the way to the BANK…

republicans, you have got to tell me why you all want to race for the bottom instaed of the top. I never understood that about you guys.

You can hate Unions all you want dumb/dumber…but I make a good living and the top guy of our company made just short of 100 million dollars ….last year alone.
Tell me dumb/dumber what Union did you work in to get your information from…?

  32. Terry

Have you ever heard of the saying “If want less of something, tax it. If you want more of it, subsidize it.”? Considering that many liberals want federally funded (that is FREE) abortion on demand, that would be subsidy. By their actions, liberals want more abortions. They believe abortions will solve some of societies ills such as poverty and crime.

“We do not have a job unless we are better than the other guys…that would be you” – Since I am in a non-union position in a different career and do not work for a competitor of GM, you’re wrong.

The only reason you do have a job is because the federal gov’t bailed out your failed company’s and failed union’s butt. And your company still owes the federal gov’t – the taxpayers over $10 billion.

I’m not in a union. I stand on my own efforts to determine first if I have a job and second what my salary (not wages) will be.

    • Ted Biondo

Good response, Terry! The GM bailout was a fiasco for the investors, stockholders and bondholders and Obama sure redistributed the wealth in that one! Hence the name Government motors and they do owe the taxpayers Billions.

  33. Brian Opsahl

Dumber, I do not work at GM and maybe you would be happier if all those good paying jobs went to China or Japan ala, Romney style…GM is the number 1 auto sales in the World and your NOT happy about it….wow Mr.Anti-American ….these Union workers pay taxes and support our economy in a way an idiot like you would never understand because fox news and the likes told you so…

Just imagian how bad our economy would have been if those companys and the parts suppy chain had failed….but no Mr.Obama had the smarts to fix that befre we went UNDER….thanks to bush and his failed polocies.

I work hard for the money I earn…no differant than anybody else….have you saved your company 3.3 million dollars…/..cause I have…!!

  34. wilson

“, I do not work at GM and maybe you would be happier if all those good paying jobs went to China”
“Brian, where do you get your news?
“GM to Build Cadillac Plant in China”
GM to open 4 new assembly plants in China by end of 2015 | …”
“General Motors Company (GM) will start building a $1.3 billion plant in Shanghai’s Jinqiao zone in China from next month that will manufacture its popular Cadillac luxury model. With this, the automaker intends to capture the potential luxury market in China, which is dominated by European brands.”
“The Detroit Free Press is reporting that GM has opened a new engine plant in China. My sources inside the UAW believe that this is an insulting hit to the Unions at GM going into the national contractual negotiations.
GM has spent $263 million on this plant that will be used for manufacturing engines for the minicars that GM is selling in China. The plant will be able to manufacture 300,000 units a year, and will start production in August.”

  35. Jaybo

“GM is the number 1 auto sales in the World”

Brian – if by GM you mean Toyota, then you are absolutely right.

Seriously, do you do any research before you post?

How do you feel about the 63,000 GM dealership employees who lost their jobs during the Obama bailout? You never seem to mention them – does your concern begin and end with union employees? Non-union workers “pay taxes and support our economy” too.

  36. Brian Opsahl

Why would I mention the dealerships GM cut workers salarys almost in half to get new hires at half the price, that and cutting the amount of car types including my favorite (Pontiac) …Toyota has recall issues up the butt….so go buy one Fugi…!!

I care about all workers jaybo…always have always will, INCLUDING the ones who suffer making the minimum wage.

Those 63,000 dealerships were obviously the cost of fixing there problems.

That bailout saved all our asses…if they go down our entire economy would have colapsed…and you forget to mention that…thanks to your Bush and his boys..!!

  37. Terry

Go to your local junior college and take Econ 101.

“Just imagine how bad our economy would have been if those companys and the parts suppy chain had failed….but no Mr.Obama had the smarts to fix that befre we went UNDER….thanks to bush and his failed polocies.” – First, the auto bailout started under Bush and finished under Obama. Second and most importantly, let’s assume GM and Chrysler both would have went under. Would the demand for cars have changed? Maybe a downward tick by employees of GM, Chrysler, and their suppliers – but nothing much. Where would have that demand been met? By Ford, Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, etc… and many of these cars are built in the USA by the foreign companies; just as American car companies build cars outside of our boarders. Jobs would have been shifted, but not lost in the long-run.

“Those 63,000 dealerships were obviously the cost of fixing there problems.” – So basically you don’t give a rat’s behind about non-union workers.

“I work hard for the money I earn…no differant than anybody else….have you saved your company 3.3 million dollars…/..cause I have…!!” – Sorry Gilligan, I can’t say that; however, I can say that I have either saved or made the companies I have worked for tens of millions of dollars. Then again, I’m in a decision making position.

  38. Brian Opsahl

I care just as much as you hate those Unions ….as I said if you could actully read …I care about all the workers even the ones on minimum wage…remember..?

Just so you can understand how the parts supply chain works…(because you do NOT)
If the supply chain is interupted it is for ALL the companys NOT just American ones and it was Romney and his holdings company that fleeced the taxpayers and cost us a ton of money.

Why wont you answer the question of why you think it’s good for the rest of us to make less money instead of more…why is that…? republicans wish to race for the bottom instead of the top…WHY..?
