U.S. Congress trying to exempt itself from Obamacare!
Congress doesn’t have to retire on Social Security like most of us – they have their own Cadillac plan – and now they are trying to exempt themselves from Obamacare!
Prior to the bill’s passage, Nancy Pelosi instructed House members that they would have to pass Obamacare, to see what was in the bill. Apparently, Congress members have now read it; found out what’s in it and want out!
There is no better argument for the repeal of this one-size-fits-all healthcare monstrosity than the fact that the ones who are forcing Obamacare on the American people don’t want it forced on them. What’s good enough for the American people is not good enough for Congress.
Today’s Politico reports that the House and Senate congressional leadership—both Democrats and Republicans working in cahoots with Obama Administration officials—have been secretly negotiating for months trying to find a way to exempt Members of Congress and their staffs from being forced into Obamacare’s health insurance exchanges.
Hundreds of Obama’s unions and supporters have already been given waivers from the healthcare abomination, why wouldn’t those who passed the law also be exempt? OMG!
By removing themselves from a key Obamacare component, lawmakers and aides would be held to a different standard than the people who put them in office.
During the 2009-10 battle over what’s now dubbed Obamacare, Republicans insisted that Capitol Hill hands must have the same health care as the rest of the American people.
The problem stems from whether members and aides set to enter the exchanges would have their health insurance premiums subsidized by their employer — in this case, the federal taxpayers.
If not, aides and lawmakers in both parties fear that staffers — especially low-paid junior aides — could be hit with thousands of dollars in new health care costs, prompting them to seek jobs elsewhere.
And the rest of Americans in private jobs won’t be hit with thousands of dollars under this cost-saving healthcare plan? Who does Congress think they are, Congress?
The coverage of millions of the uninsured, which was the bill’s original promise, will leave tens-of-millions still uninsured because the state health exchanges are floundering.
Author and supporter of Obamacare, Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D–MT) said just the other day to Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, who is in charge of implementation of Obamacare that, “A lot of people have no idea about all of this.… I just see a huge train wreck coming down, and you and I have discussed this many times and I don’t see any results yet.”
Well, when the train wreck occurs, the Congressman and his peers are hoping that they miss the train and are helping their supporters to miss it also.
