School Board’s contract offer appears fair to everyone

The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) union representing school district bus drivers, nutrition employees and paraprofessionals have been complaining that the school board refuses to bargain with them concerning primarily health insurance and wages. The school board declared an impasse on January 11, after nine months of negotiations and the union refuses to accept the district’s final offer. AFSCME members believe the district’s contract is unfair and demands continuing negotiations. The district’s current...

Detroit bankruptcy caused by decades of liberal policies

Detroit is a showcase for the liberal agenda — and now it is bankrupt. More than 50 years of control by big-government liberals and union bosses have left a once-great American city crippled. Excerpt: Democrats have dominated the city council, and there’s been a Democratic mayor since 1962. So it should come as no surprise that a program such as the state Medicaid program, which is to provide the base of expansion for...

Excerpt: One would naturally think it impossible that anyone would hesitate – even for an instant – to honor the woman who tackled communism head on as prime minister of Great Britain. Lady Margaret Thatcher was a principled politician...

Michigan soon to be “Right to Work” state?

According to the December 7th Patriot Post, Michigan is the headquarters of the Big Three auto unions, making it one of the most unionized states in the nation. That may soon change. Republicans control the state legislature and the governor’s mansion, and the House just voted to pass a right-to-work bill that the Senate should also approve and Governor Rick Synder will sign. Michigan will be the 24th state to do so – the nation is almost halfway to becoming a right-to-work union, pardon the pun. Right-to-work does not outlaw...
