Niagara Falls? Jackson Hole? You decide

Members of Chicago Rockford International Airport’s MilesAhead loyalty rewards club just got e-mailed an enticing question:
If we were to gain “seasonal, non-stop jet service, with an average fare of approximately $100 each way, which destination is most appealing to you and your friends for “RFD” to possibly gain: Niagara Falls, NY, or Jackson Hole, Wy?
Interesting. Niagara Falls has been spoken of before as a target destination, but Jackson Hole is a new one. It’s a ski resort capital, and pretty popular. I’ll be looking into both these possibilities.
UPDATE: Talked to Executive Director Bob O’Brien, who said an airline is interested in one or both destinations, as well as others. He’s also talking to other airlines. He won’t say much, other than the potential airline is not now serving Jackson Hole (so it’s not SkyWest, Delta, United or American).
FURTHER UPDATE: Can’t get the poll link to work right. Please vote by commenting to this post - choose one, Niagara Falls or Jackson Hole. I’ll report results to the airport officials, and won’t report your names or information.

JACKSON HOLE - It’s not just a ski destination. Winter or summer it’s also great for non-skiers. Tons to do. It’s also a short, scenic drive from Yellowstoen Nat’l Park.

Jackson Hole, Wyoming is an incredible vacation destination, Winter or Summer. While I know very little about Niagra Falls, my vote is easily in favor of Jackson Hole, WY. Would make one of my next vacation destinations Wyoming and would if the rates are cheap enough allow me to bring the whole family.

It’s gotta be Allegiant. Not only do they need cooler climates to put their planes in the summer months, but Allegiant is the only carrier that has a history of “polling” and “writing in” for advanced support. Also, Rockford is the perfect place to test new destinations since it’s in the middle of the country and equidistant to either the East or much of the West. It’s also a proven market for Allegiant. This is especially important in terms of fuel since even Jackson Hole is 300 miles closer to Rockford than Phoenix is. Now that Mesa won’t resume until the late summer/early fall, there are some surplus MD80’s that need air time.
And it would be pretty hard for an airline to get the ball rolling by Memorial Day unless they already had shop set up for at least one of the airoorts. Esp

Jackson Hole is normally very expensive to fly directly into.
During the peak season it can reach upto $800 for a roundtrip ticket.
I guarantee if the Rockford Airport offers a roundtrip ticket there for $100, many people from the whole Chicagoland area would use this service. The airline would not have any problems filling the seats which would be great for the Rockford community.
