Today’s fuel price musings - No fooling, gas is down (but diesel is up)

A drop in oil prices helps on the gas front, if not on diesel (data courtesy of AAA’s fuelgaugereport.com):

Gasoline: Rockford dropped a penny to $3.37 a gallon Tuesday. Most metro areas in the state also dropped, sending the state average down almost a penny ($3.42 a gallon). We’re down to sixth in the state now (take that Peoria!). The national average remained virtually unchanged today at $3.29 a gallon. Illinois remains fifth-highest gas prices in the country.

Diesel: The opposite happened on this side. Rockford jumped three cents to $4.09 a gallon, while other metro areas had smaller increases and even some decreases. The state average remained at $4.14 a gallon, but we’re up to fourth in the state in disel prices. The nation increased less than a cent and remains at $4.02. Illinois has the 11th-highest prices in the country.
