Motorists in Illinois are still paying more than those in much of the country as the region slowly regains gasoline supplies in the wake of hurricanes Gustav and Ike. The refineries shut down by the hurricanes particularly served the Southeast and Midwest.

“We’re seeing somewhat of a time lag,” Ritterbusch said. “There’s really only four or five refineries that are completely shut down in the Gulf. We’re going to see gasoline supplies building appreciably in the coming month.”</description>
