Would love to get out to Washington sometime. My old pastor lives out by Spokane I believe.

It sounds like they’re not putting governor names up in the future … maybe they’ll just keep the new ones saying the name of the toll plaza.

I lived in Illinois for 50 years. You don’t have that much wind back there. Come out to SE Washington to see wind. The positive aspect is it’s good for generating electricity. And blowing around the tumbleweeds. And tearing the roofs off of houses.

Craig - Velcro would be more cost-effective, but in Illinois winds it might be a safety hazard.

I think the argument is that the governor is the public face/head of the state … and in this particular case he feels he pushed Open-Road Tolling along. I wasn’t covering it back then, so I don’t know how much of it was his impetus, but he definitely used “political capital” to get it done.

It appears they’re not putting Quinn’s name up as a replacement. Wonder if that’s a long-term change or just because he’s not a full-termer…

I always said the names should be attached with Velcro. BTW, just why do the govs think they should have their names on the signs, anyway? They didn’t build the darn things!
