Thankful Thursday Series: Community Champions

Our series on highlighting organizations that have a powerful impact on our community continues with a spotlight on the Chairman’s Circle Members club. Membership into this elite club requires an organization to raise at least $200,000 during the annual United Way Community Campaign. But what makes these Chairman’s Circle Members champions of our community goes beyond their financial contribution. They serve on the United Way board and various other committees, actively volunteer through United Way, and incorporate a year round LIVE UNITED spirit.

Let’s take a closer look at how each of these organizations Give, Advocate, and Volunteer for United Way:

ComEd / Exelon – Byron Nuclear Power Station 6 / IBEW 15

– Ran a Gold Level workplace campaign

– Contributed a corporate gift at the $25,000 and Above level

– Raised additional gifts for United Way partner agencies through special events

– Dedicates employees to internal United Way campaign committee

– Employees serve on United Way Board

– Employees serve on the Ogle County Community Impact committee

FIAT Chrysler Automobiles / UAW Local 1268 / UAW Local 1761

– Received the LIVE UNITED Award last year

– Ran a Gold Level workplace campaign

– Raised additional gift for United Way through special events

– Loaned an employee to United Way August – November to serve as a campaign ambassador

– LIVE UNITED Award recipient during the 2012 Community Campaign

– Dedicates employees to internal United Way campaign committee

– Employees serve on United Way Board

– Employees serve on the Income and Health Impact Council

– Participates in United Way’s Day of Caring

UTC Aerospace Systems / UAW Local 592

– Ran a Gold Level workplace campaign

– Contributed a corporate gift at the $25,000 and Above level

– Sponsors United Way’s Success By 6® school readiness initiative

– Dedicates employees to internal United Way campaign committee

– Employees serve on United Way Board

– Employees serve on the Income and Health Impact Council

– Employees serve on the Community Wide Impact Council

– Employees serve on the I READ Steering Committee

– Participates in United Way’s Day of Caring

– Volunteered during United Way’s Day of Action

– Employees volunteer as United Way I READ mentors

Woodward

– Ran a Gold Level workplace campaign

– Contributed a corporate gift at the $25,000 and Above level

– Dedicates employees to internal United Way campaign committee

– Employees serve on United Way Board

– Organize volunteer projects through United Way’s Volunteer Center

Collectively, these four Chairman’s Circle Members organizations raised over $1.5 million during the 2013 United Way Community Campaign. But it takes a combination of financial resources, collective input, and selfless volunteers to create opportunities that improve our community.
