Viewpoints Board
The Community Viewpoints Board advises the Register Star on the Editorial Agenda and on topics of the day. They are conservatives, liberals and independent. Some are retired. Others are doctors, teachers, pastors, social workers and marketing specialists. Several members of the board agreed to blog on rrstar.com. They’ll share their views here on local issues. Their thoughts – as well as the opinions of other board members – also will appear with other opinion content online and in the newspaper in the Opinions section.

A brief history

The Community Viewpoints Board continues to be a rich resource for the Register Star. The CVB began in 1994 to reflect diversity of opinion and advise the Editorial Board. For the last two years, CVB members also have weighed in on the Editorial Agenda, the Register Star’s annual statement of issues we believe are critical to the Rock River Valley.

The viewpoints board will meet regularly over the next year to assess progress on the agenda. Mary Kaull, assistant editorial page editor, is liaison to the CVB. Reach her at mkaull@rrstar.com.

Members were picked through referrals from former CVB members and after recommendations from community members and Register Star staff. The board will weigh the CVB’s opinions heavily when creating a final agenda for the community.
