Why We Vote
The Register Star has brought together a group of people from all over the Rock River Valley to serve on our Election 2008 Voters’ Panel. These men and women are Republicans, Democrats, Independents and Green party members. Some are high school students. Some are retired. And some fall in between those two age groups. They all share this: The upcoming election is important and voters do have voices. They’ll share them in this blog.

The Election Process

1 comment March 7th, 2008

I am excited about this election year as it is the first election in my adult life that we have had so many excellent and qualified candidates to select from. The excitement is tinged with disappointment because of the selection process. Each person should have the ability to study each candidate and make his selection. The states with “late” primaries are at a disadvantage because many of the candidates have withdrawn for a variety of reasons, primarily the cost for the campaign. We need to find a solution, preferably nationwide primaries on the same day and limiting the amount of time a candidate may campaign. Some of the candidates for the presidential election have been campaigning for over two years. The process must be adjusted.
