Why We Vote
The Register Star has brought together a group of people from all over the Rock River Valley to serve on our Election 2008 Voters’ Panel. These men and women are Republicans, Democrats, Independents and Green party members. Some are high school students. Some are retired. And some fall in between those two age groups. They all share this: The upcoming election is important and voters do have voices. They’ll share them in this blog.

No Surprise Here.

Our Senate has just voted down a proposal to place a one year moratorium on earmarks. Did anyone reasonably think that our elected officials in Washington, D.C. would voluntarily stop trying to buy our votes with our money? All is not lost, though. Listening to their justification (especially Dick Durbin’s) for voting against such a measure is really entertaining. They all should have their own show on Comedy Central…… just before, “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.” It would be a great lead in for one of the funniest shows on T.V.
