Boycott the Chinese Olympic Opening Ceremonies.

At some point in time we’re going to have to show the Chinese that we are still a soverign country and stop playing the stooge to them. We could start by telling them we’re going to join with France and possibly others that we will not condone their treatment of the Tibetans. I suspect that we will never do that because of our dismal human rights record of the past seven years. A few things come to mind such as the secret prisons run by the CIA in Eastern Europe and the refusal of our President to aknowledge that waterboarding is torture.
In addition, the old addage that you never want to anger your banker holds true here. Our deficit spending has been largely underwritten by our friends the Communist Chinese, Japan Mexico and U.A. E. So, I guess we’ll just stand by and look the other way on what the Chinese are doing in Tibet. We’re in no position morally or financially to take them on.

I really have mixed feelings on China… On one hand I would really enjoy visiting and touring the country. On the other hand I’m concerned that American companies pay cheap prices to Chinese companies for manufacturing which uses low wages and no environmental restrictions. On the issue of the Olympics…the idea is to bring together countries of the world and to go above political differences. I hope we can express our discontent in a way that allows us to participate.

It seems that US does not want to get their hands dirty when it is not convenient. This is very disappointing and confusing at the same time. United States has the fame to get into other countries’ wars because they want to promote peace and defend human rights, but at the same time does not condone the violation of human rights when it is for its own benefit such as having underpaid workers in China (I think they even cheaper than the illegal immigrants in USA, aren’t they? No wonder why so many jobs go to China or India) or has discrimination in its own land . Very difficult task for the US. But the worst of all is that we the citizens of this great nation continue allowing this because it makes our lives so much easier.

China is violating human rights. Boycott the Olympics in China. It is that simple.
