The Register Star has brought together a group of people from all over the Rock River Valley to serve on our Election 2008 Voters' Panel. These men and women are Republicans, Democrats, Independents and Green party members. Some are high school students. Some are retired. And some fall in between those two age groups. They all share this: The upcoming election is important and voters do have voices. They'll share them in this blog.

It seems that US does not want to get their hands dirty when it is not convenient. This is very disappointing and confusing at the same time. United States has the fame to get into other countries' wars because they want to promote peace and defend human rights, but at the same time does not condone the violation of human rights when it is for its own benefit such as having underpaid workers in China (I think they even cheaper than the illegal immigrants in USA, aren't they? No wonder why so many jobs go to China or India) or has discrimination in its own land . Very difficult task for the US. But the worst of all is that we the citizens of this great nation continue allowing this because it makes our lives so much easier.

I really have mixed feelings on China... On one hand I would really enjoy visiting and touring the country. On the other hand I'm concerned that American companies pay cheap prices to Chinese companies for manufacturing which uses low wages and no environmental restrictions. On the issue of the Olympics...the idea is to bring together countries of the world and to go above political differences. I hope we can express our discontent in a way that allows us to participate.
