Why We Vote
The Register Star has brought together a group of people from all over the Rock River Valley to serve on our Election 2008 Voters’ Panel. These men and women are Republicans, Democrats, Independents and Green party members. Some are high school students. Some are retired. And some fall in between those two age groups. They all share this: The upcoming election is important and voters do have voices. They’ll share them in this blog.

Getting rid of the electoral college

Few weeks ago there was an article about getting rid off the electoral college. I have been thinking that in a way could be a good idea because the popular vote will be the one counting and we won’t have two winners at the time. It is very disappointing that even people voted and popular vote elected People would be empowered and would be more diligent about who they vote for or at least to have the motivation to go out and vote. Those lobbyists would need to find another job because the popular vote is the one now electing those who represent the interest of the people and are working for the people.
