When film critic Will Pfeifer isn’t watching movies, he’s reading about movies, talking about movies, thinking about movies or dreaming about movies. Now he shares that unhealthy obsession with you. From Hollywood hits to Japanese obscurities, from Oscar night to the summer season, he’s got movies on the brain — and on this blog.

Here’s the “TCM Remembers” montage for 2011, paying tribute to some of the movie personalities who died in the past 12 months. As a rule, these are always better than the similar montages shown during the Academy Awards, with broader choices that reflect a true history of cinema and music/editing miles beyond anything the Oscar show achieves (or, frankly, attempts).

As a lifelong cult movie fan, I was glad to see Tura Satana, Yvette Vickers and Charles Napier included. And I could guess who was going to be the last one in the montage — especially considering it’s Turner CLASSIC ...

Here’s the trailer for “Rock of Ages,” the star-studded tribute to ’80s rock based on the hit Broadway musical. As thrilled as I am to see movies finally moving past the music of the 1960s (and all the way into the 1980s!), I’m a little insulted that this sort of corporate rock is referred to as “the music of a generation” — mostly because, this time around, it’s my generation.

Chris focuses on two Favreau movies, “Elf” and “Cowboys and Aliens,” while I review the latest (and most profitable, believe it or not) from the Woodman himself, “Midnight in Paris” (above, with Owen Wilson and Marion Cotillard).

Offering insight on the “Glee” jokes (courtesy of Melissa) and too much talk about the “Star Wars” holiday special (courtesy of me and Chris), it’s a holiday treat for all.
